National Correctional Officers and Employees Week is from May 7 to 13 this year.

Former President Ronald Reagan established this week on May 5, 1984.  He saw the need to create a week for correctional staff to thank them for their services and celebrate their contributions to society.

“During this week, we recognize correctional officers and support staff who exemplify professionalism, integrity, and strength in the face of a difficult and often dangerous work environment.  We want to take this opportunity to thank each and every staff member that currently works at the Correctional Work Center, Adult Detention Center,  and Juvenile Detention Center or has worked at these facilities in the past.  Thank you to all for your dedication and daily service.  You are very much appreciated and deserving of recognition for your commitment and hard work.”  Superintendent William Cope, CJM
