Rutherford County Emergency Medical Service (RCEMS) had eight employees complete paramedic training and receive certification.  

RCEMS Director Brian Gaither said, “I am extremely proud of each one of these employees for earning their paramedic certification. They have worked extremely hard over the past year to complete their paramedic training while maintaining their full-time job. Each one of these individuals is an asset to Rutherford County EMS and the citizens they serve.”  

The paramedic training curriculum consists of both classroom and clinical training at hospitals and ambulance services. A paramedic student studies anatomy and physiology, as well as courses such as advanced cardiac life support, advanced pediatric life support, and pre-hospital trauma life support. The duration of the program is 12 months.  Participants attend school two to three days a week and are required to complete 600 clinical hours during the year. 

RCEMS provides services for the entire county encompassing 624 square miles.
